Future Goals

HNI provides essential care and support to the people of Kitindi through three core programs.

7 M

Center of Transformation: Nourishment & Skills Training
Our sustainable livestock program helps families build economic independence. Participants receive chickens, pigs, or goats, then pass offspring to other families—creating a ripple effect of prosperity. We also support agricultural training, including sending farmers to Zimbabwe to learn advanced techniques for growing rice and peanuts.

Educational Support
We ensure children can attend school by providing daily breakfast for students and their siblings, along with school uniforms.

Survivor Care & Recovery
We support survivors returning from hospital treatment with access to clean water through purification tablets and ongoing wellness resources. Community health workers provide critical care through regular visits, delivering supplies like first aid materials, pain relief medication, and menstrual products while educating families on hygiene and health practices.

Our Vision of Kitindi’s Future

With two decades of trust and relationship-building in Kitindi, HNI is positioned to deepen our impact through

Build a comprehensive medical facility in Kitindi offering full-service care including pediatrics, internal medicine, laboratory services, pharmacy, operating room, emergency care, gynecology, and maternity support—bringing essential healthcare directly to the community.

Village Hospital

98% of Kitindi residents are women and children with the closest hospital being 188 miles away (302km). There are limited roadways and access to electricity is scarce. The Kalumbula family is bridging the gap by providing essential services for children and their families that would otherwise be inaccessible to most. This includes clean water, uniforms for school, meals, hygiene products, job training, and other educational support.

Skills Training & Economic Empowerment

Strengthen partnerships with regional schools to create pathways for local residents to train as nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers. These internship pipelines ensure Kitindi's own community members can deliver care where they're needed most—at home.

Healthcare Workforce Development

Expand services to include prosthetics, dental care, vision services, mental health counseling, and housing support—creating a holistic care ecosystem that addresses the full spectrum of community needs.

Long-Term Vision

Due to the remote location’s challenges terrain and limited infrastructure monetary donations allow us to purchase supplies locally and maximize impact. Teams visit Kitindi every 3-4 years as resources allow.
